FAQ

What do you provide psychological therapy for?

Lismore Clinical Psychology provides psychological assessment and psychological therapy for: anxiety, depression, psychological trauma, couple and family relationships, adjustment problems, grief and loss, anger management, parenting skills, life and career role transitions, workplace stress, bullying and harassment, self-esteem, insomnia, and pain management.

Does Medicare cover any of the costs?

Medicare provides a rebate of $124.50 for clinical psychologists and $84.80 for all other psychologists who are referred by their GP, a psychiatrist or a paediatrician for treatment of a mental health disorder. To claim this rebate you will require a referral letter plus a GP Mental Health Care Plan from your GP or a referral letter from your psychiatrist or paediatrician. You are entitled to 10 sessions each calendar year from Medicare.

Veterans Affairs and Workcover?

Psychological services funded by Veterans Affairs and Workcover are fully funded and do not require payment of a fee by the client.

I need a psychological report for court or other purpose. Do you write reports?

On request from a lawyer a psychological report may be provided for forensic purposes. A report of cognitive functioning can also be prepared. However, unlike psychological therapy, Medicare does not provide rebates for psychological reports. While rebates from Medicare may be claimed for the actual assessment, the written report is fully paid for by the person or organization requesting the report.
